4 stars 5 questions

We ask four stars the same five questions. See what Sarah Stevenson (Taekwondo), Nicola Adams (Boxing), Laura Massaro (Squash) and Katie Blundell (Snowboarding) have to say.

SARAH STEVENSON
Taekwondo

1. Which sport would you most like front-row seats for at London 2012?

I would like tickets to the Paralympic’s wheelchair basketball, if GB get to the final. It’s a really dynamic, fast, tough sport; they get stuck in and there’s a lot of contact like I’m used to with taekwondo.

2. What is your proudest moment to date?

My proudest moment is getting married because all my family were there, including my mum and dad, and it was such a nice time. You realise that moments like that are more important than sport.

3. Who is your best friend from the world of taekwondo?

My Olympic buddy Sarah Bainbridge who also went to Athens in 2004 with me but no longer competes.

4. Who is your sporting hero and if you could ask them one question what would it be?

Roger Federer and my question would be ‘will you marry me?’

5. What do you most enjoy doing outside of taekwondo?

Spending time with my friends and family, shopping and doing things with my husband Steve.

NICOLA ADAMS
Boxing

1. Which sport would you most like front-row seats for at London 2012?

The 100m final, for both the men and the women. I think that would be really exciting.

2. What is your proudest moment to date?

Winning the European Championships, purely because I’ve always had silver before, never the gold, so getting the gold this time put the icing on the cake.

3. Who is your best friend from the world of boxing?

I actually have two, Chantelle Cameron and Savannah Marshall. When we go away we always live together and have fun both inside and outside boxing. We can tell each other everything.

4. Who is your sporting hero and if you could ask them one question what would it be?

Again, I’ve got two! Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. I’d ask them what it was like to win their first world title.

5. What do you most enjoy doing outside of boxing?

Watching TV and lazing around. Just chilling.

LAURA MASSARO
Squash

1. Which sport would you most like front-row seats for at London 2012?

I think probably the one that everyone would say, the 100m final. It would be great to watch Usain Bolt run.

2. What is your proudest moment to date?

This year has been so amazing, I don’t know if I can pick! Winning the British Nationals pips my US Open win just a bit because I was the first ever Lancashire lady to win it and there were such huge names on that trophy.

3. Who is your best friend from the world of squash?

Probably my husband, Danny. He coaches and although he doesn’t coach me he understands everything to do with my training and tournaments and is really supportive.

4. Who is your sporting hero and if you could ask them one question what would it be?

Probably Serena Williams and I’d ask how she has managed to keep the hunger and the desire for all this time.

5. What do you most enjoy doing outside of squash?

Going to the cinema and spending time with friends and family. Nothing too rock and roll, just things that you enjoy doing that get you away from day to day training.

KATIE BLUNDELL
Snowboarding

1. Which sport would you most like front-row seats for at London 2012?

The gymnastics, I did lots of gymnastics when I was younger so I always love to watch it.

2. What is your proudest moment to date?

My first BRITS in 2010. It was the first major competition that I’d ever done and I won the gold in the Big Air.

3. Who is your best friend from the world of snowboarding?

Probably my boyfriend – that does sound cheesy but he’s the person that encouraged me to take up snowboarding and has taught me everything I know about it.

4. Who is your sporting hero and if you could ask them one question what would it be?

My sporting hero is the snowboarder Jenny Jones. She’s such a British icon, so I think I’d ask her what her secret was to being so successful!

5. What do you most enjoy doing outside of snowboarding?

That’s an easy one! Eating chocolate and watching chick flicks!

Katie will be back competing at The BRITS in Laax 18 – 25 March www.the-brits.com
