Sportsister tests: Boardman CX Team

This all-round bike can be used for winter training, commuting, cycle touring, recreational off-road rides and of course for cyclo-cross racing.

The Boardman CX Team is part of the new generation of cyclo-cross bikes with UCI approved disc brakes, which offer greater braking power than the traditional Cantilever brakes.

Together with its stiff frame, sturdy forks and knobbly tyres the Boardman CX Team gives the rider better control and real confidence when riding on rough or technical terrain. 4/5.

Good points:
Triple butted aluminium frame with carbon forks and strong wheels make it a sturdy bike with greater steering precision.
Knobbly tyres offer good grip on rough terrain.
Boardman saddle gives enhanced comfort.
With mounts for bottle cages, rear bike rack and mudguards it can be used as a cycle touring bike.

Bad points:
Weighing in at 9.8kg, some cyclo-cross racers may wish for something a little lighter.
Only limited handlebar space for lights etc. once the secondary brake levers are fitted.
