Castle Howard Triathlon

When: 22 July, 2012

Where: Castle Howard, York

Details: This is day three of the Castle Tri Series, located at the beautiful Castle Howard triathlon. This race is set on the sorthern border of the North York Moors.By popular demand an Olympic distance has been introduced so that competitors can pit their strength against an Elite field of trithletes over the full distances used at the Olympic Games.

The stunning surrounding scenery with Castle Howard’s 10,000 acres forms arguably the most physically challenging triathlon course of the series.

Triathletes start the race by swimming the Castle Howard Great Lake before transitioning into the technical cycle route. With one lap for the Sprint and two laps for both the Mid and Olympic distance the cycle leg passes through the undulating countryside surrounding the estate.

Triathletes run through the estate, taking in the historic monuments along the way, again with one lap for the Sprint and two laps for the Mid-Distance and Olympic races. The race ends with triathletes literally running into the front entrance of this truly magnificent Castle.

To compete in the Castle Howard Triathlon you can enter either as an individual, a relay team of two, or a relay team of three. The Junior and Children’s races follow the same format. Team entries can be all male, all female or mixed.
