Arsenal Ladies put themselves firmly in the driving seat for a place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a 4-0 first-leg victory over FC Bobruichanka.
Before the game Laura Harvey called for consistency from her Gunners side as they look to go one step further than last season’s semi-final place.
And the Ladies manager was delighted with what she saw from her side in a potentially tricky encounter against the Belarus champions.
“We dominated throughout without playing particularly well,” she said. “I’m delighted to have a four-goal cushion for the second leg next Wednesday.
“It was a hard ask for the girls to go from a tough Super League season straight into the Champions League, but they’ve coped well.
“We could have got more goals than we did, but we’re still set up nicely for the second leg and I’m confident that we’ll go through to the last 16.”
Ellen White opened the scoring after nine minutes to give the Ladies a slender half-time lead.
The second half was a different story completely as Harvey’s team produced three more goals to put themselves in command.
Jordan Nobbs made it two in the 64th minute before Jennifer Beattie and Katie Chapman completed a fine afternoon’s work.
The Ladies will look to close out the tie when they host Bobruichanka in the second leg on October 5.
