When having fun in the mountains it’s easy to forget how potentially dangerous the surrounding environment could become - but knowing your boundaries and a few awareness tips could make the world of difference.
Snow+Rock has partnered with The North Face and The Ski Club of Great Britain to deliver an exclusive lecture series in their stores during November.
Aimed primarily at skiers and snowboarders, the lectures will introduce key concepts such as snowpack layering and avalanche formation, how to recognise avalanche terrain, signs of unstable snow, human factors and safe travel techniques.
Perfect both for first-timers or those wishing to enhance or refresh their backcountry knowledge, there’s also an opportunity to win spot prizes of The North Face equipment at each lecture and an overall series prize draw to win £500 of The North Face clothing or equipment from Snow+Rock.
The lectures are to be delivered by James Morland, a Canadian Avalanche Association Level 2 professional with over 15 years experience of avalanche related work. He is the founder of Elemental Adventure (EA Heliskiing) and has skied extensively in many exciting locations around the world.
