As the inaugural FA WSL season nears its end we get to know four of the players, all from different teams, a little better.

Position: Varies (predominantly centre back but been known to play right back and centre forward.)

Club: Lincoln Ladies

1) Which player, male or female, past or present, would you most like to play alongside?

It would have to be Nemanja Vidic. This is because he is an immense presence, powerful, strong in the tackle and a fine reader of the game. He has an excellent goalscoring record for a centre half. Playing alongside him I feel I would learn a great deal and develop massively as a player.

2) Tell us about the most memorable football match that you have played in?

It would have to be the FA Cup Semi Final v Arsenal at Sincil Bank in the 2007/08 season. It was amazing to play in front of a crowd of approximately 3,000 people, the atmosphere was amazing.

3) Name three people that would be in your all time football dream team.

Female – Marta Vieira da Silva, Birgit Prinz and Mia Hamm

Male – Pele, Diego Maradona and George Best. If I was picking from today’s players Rooney and Ronaldo would have to make an appearance too.

4) Of all matches in this season’s WSL which are you/were you most looking forward to and why?

It would have to be the Bristol away game. This is because it was the closest fixture to my home town of Brixham in Torbay and therefore some of my friends and family were able to come and watch which was nice as this doesn’t happen very often.

5) Which three words sum you up as a person?

Dedicated, considerate and witty!

1) Which player, male or female, past or present, would you most like to play alongside?

Steven Gerrard is a real team player, he is an inspiration to his team mates, he never gives up and has the ability to distribute the ball with such accuracy.

2) Tell us about the most memorable football match that you have played in?

The most memorable match is when I reached the European U19 final, unfortunately we lost but that trip really was a complete team effort and it was my first major tournament final.

3) Name three people that would be in your all time football dream team.

David Beckham, he has always be my idol, his ability to pass the ball is incredible.

John Terry, his attitude to give everything for the shirt he wears, he’s a real leader and motivational captain (also I’m a lifelong Chelsea fan).

Lionel Messi, he is the best football player in the world, his technical football ability is unbelievable.

4) Of all the matches in this season’s WSL which are you/were you most looking forward to and why?

Personally I always look forward to playing Arsenal; I used to play for them so it always means a lot to play against them as well as testing yourself against the best players in the league.

5) Which three words sum you up as a person?

Hardworking, competitive and versatile.

Maria-KarlssonMaria Karlsson

Position: Defender

Club: Doncaster Rovers Belles

1) Which player, male or female, past or present, would you most like to play alongside?

I want to have Hope Solo behind me in goal. We played together in Gothenburg some years ago and she’s a lovely person and, in my opinion, the best female keeper in the world.

2) Tell us about your most memorable football match that you have played in?

I have thought a lot about this but really can not pick out one special game in my career. There have been many, that mean a lot in different ways.

3) Name three people that would be in your all time football dream team.

Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos

4) Of all the matches in this season’s WSL which are you/were you most looking forward to and why?

Because I’m new in England and never have played against any team or player I’m looking forward to all games. But if I have to say one it would be to play in the Continental Cup final…

5) Which three words sum you up as a person?

Social, positive, ambitious.

Position: Left back

Club: Birmingham City Ladies

1) Which player, male or female, past or present, would you most like to play alongside?

David Beckham because he has always been my footballing idol from a young age and he is a quality football player. I’d love to get on the end of some of his crosses.

2) Tell us about the most memorable football match that you have played in?

I have two. The U19 European Final in 2009 against Sweden when we won the tournament. Being the first England women’s team to be crowned European Champions throughout all age groups was a great achievement and something I will always cherish. Another memorable game was when I played for England against Nigeria in the U20 World Cup in 2010 because I scored a header from a corner. To say I have scored in a World Cup is also something I am very proud of.

3) Name three people that would be in your all time football dream team.

David Beckham, Lionel Messi, Ronaldo in his hey day.

4) Of all the matches in this season’s WSL which are you/were you most looking forward to and why?

Playing Arsenal at home because I know a lot of my family and friends are coming to watch and it will hopefully be a great game as it could possibly be the title decider.

5) Which three words sum you up as a person?

Friendly, Determined, Passionate.
