FA WSL: Everton Ladies 1 - Liverpoool Ladies 0
Everton Ladies took Merseyside derby honours with a comfortable 1-0 win over Liverpool in front of a record 1,135 fans at Marine FC.
Natasha Dowie’s first half goal was enough for the Blues who could easily have won by more. Toni Duggan was the outstanding player in the first half and she signalled her intent with an early volley.
Jill Scott’s surge to the byline almost created a goal for Dowie moments later and then Duggan was again denied by visiting keeper Danielle Gibbons.
On the half hour though the goal did come, with Duggan delivering into the six-yard-box and Dowie’s presence ensuring the ball rolled across the line.

The effervescent Duggan went close with a header two minutes later and Liverpool’s best chance of the half was spurned just before the break when Nicky Twohig headed a corner over when unmarked.
The second half saw more of the same from Everton as Brooke Chaplen and Dowie went close to increasing the lead.
Still a second goal eluded Everton and Unitt and sub Gwen Harries were next go go close - the latter in spectacular fashion with an angled volley.
Harries again threatened with a curling effort late on but in the end the Toffees were comfortable winners.
