Super smoothies

A selection of fruit and vegetables, a juicer or a blender and a dash of inspiration are all you need to whip up a dazzling array of smoothies and juices! Perfect for upping your fruit and veg intake.

Good start to the day

To make 4 small glasses you will need:

2 bananas, chopped

1 large mango, chopped

500 ml skim milk

500 ml orange juice or pink grapefruit juice

Blend the banana, mango, milk and orange or pink rapefruit juice in a blender until smooth. Pour into a jug and chill.

Almond cherry smoothie

To make 2 large glasses you will need:

375 ml almond milk

400 g (14 oz) cherries, pitted

1/4 teaspoon natural vanilla extract

pinch ground cinnamon

4 large ice cubes

Blend the almond milk, cherries, vanilla, cinnamon and ice cubes in a blender until smooth.

Note: If you like a strong almond or marzipan flavour, add a dash of almond extract.

To make 6 shot glasses you will need:

30 g flat-leaf (Italian) parsley

1 medium cucumber

1/2 teaspoon caster (superfine) sugar

1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Juice the parsley and cucumber through a juice extractor, saving a little cucumber for garnishing. Stir through the sugar until the it has fully dissolved. Chill well, then stir through the lemon juice and garnish with cucumber sticks. Serve immediately.
