Lacrosse: England Vs University of Louisville

When: June 2, 2024

Where: Surrey Sports Park, Surrey

Details: This is the first international lacrosse match ever to be held at Surrey Sports Park and promises to be an exciting game.

England are fresh from a triumphant Home International Series and are competing against Louisville, a Top 10 US University Team.

The England National Lacrosse team, now under the direction of Head Coach Sarah (Richie) Butt and team manager Alex Harle, is a new squad which includes selections from the U21s and an open trials programme, playing alongside experienced players from the 2009 World Cup. The team will come together for the first time since their hugely successful Home International campaign where England dominated.

The University of Louisville, (The Cards), had an awesome season last year and a promising beginning to this season. The match will pose some interesting challenges for players from both teams. Louisville’s freshman Monica Negron has been named the ‘Big East’ Defensive Player of the year, but can she possibly be better than England’s Georgie Hurt who shut out one of the best players in the world, Jen Adams, in the 2009 World Cup? Senior UL player Liz Lovejoy will go head to head with England’s finest attack players but who will rule the roost? Will Louisville’s Emily Dashiell, who ranked third in the US on draw controls last year, outrun England’s Lucy Lynch who is arguably the fastest player in the world? Lynch is said to control the midfield for England but not just with speed, she is also one of the country’s sharpest shooters.

Tickets: Tickets will be on sale at Surrey Sports Park on the day but – complimentary tickets are available for those registering in advance at www.internationallax.eventbrite.com
