Details: Basildon Sporting Village, the new multi-million pound sports complex and official training venue for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games opens to the public on Saturday 30th April 2011.
The centre will be operated by Everyone Active, who will host a weekend of free activity for all the family with over 20 special guests including Mark Foster, Duncan Goodhew MBE, Jo Jackson, Becky Wing and Reiss Beckford and performances by Spelbound, winner’s of Britain’s Got Talent 2010.
The Sporting Village offers world class facilities including a 50m swimming pool, 10 metre climbing wall, 8-lane athletics track, purpose built gymnasium and state of the art gym & studio’s for group exercise classes. Visitors are invited to use the facilities all weekend and take part in a host of fun activities for all ages including:
• Tag rugby with the Saracens Rugby Team and a kicking competition
• Cheerleading sessions with the Saracens Sensations
• Taster group exercise classes – Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Body Combat, Body Balance, Spin, Circuits, Aerobics and more
• Gymnastics coaching sessions
• Climbing sessions on the 10metre wall
• Netball activities with England players and a shooting competition
• Penalty Shootout with Neville Southall, Junior football coaching and an adult 6-a-side tournament
• Junior cricket coaching with Graham Napier and James Foster. Bowling and batting coaching for adults.
• Free public swimming all day
