Details: This year the The European Youth Olympic Festival is expected to involve around 4,000 athletes and officials from 49 nations.

It will showcase some of the best youth talent, with a number of British Olympians from various sports, including Rebecca Adlington, David Davies, Steph Twell and Craig Fallon having gained vital experience at this event, before graduating to compete for Team GB at the Olympic Games.

EYOF 2011 Team GB Chef de Mission Craig Hunter said: “The Festival will provide them with excellent experience of a multi-sport environment reminiscent of an Olympic Games and promote the Olympic ideals of excellence, friendship and respect in representing and competing for Team GB.

“The Festival will take place almost exactly a year ahead of London 2012, so there has never been a more exciting time for these young athletes to experience an Olympic environment.”
