Sportsister hits the BRITS

Described by Ed Leigh from Ski Sunday as ‘Glastonbury meets the FA Cup on snow’ and featuring the UK’s best skiers and snowboarders as well as incredible acts and parties, this year’s BRITS Snow and Music Festival is set to be a scorcher, so to speak.
Taking place in Laax, Switzerland, from March 20-27, the highly acclaimed BRITS [1] is now in its 22nd year and continues to attract thousands of snow fanatics, novices and inbetweeners alike to Europe’s premiere freestyle resort for a full-on week of snow, music, dressing up and general debauchery.
Not wanting to miss out on the action, Sportsister is heading out to the BRITS to revel in everything snow. With highlights including The Trespass Snowboardcross and Skiercross Championships, a Pendulum DJ set with MC Verse, a Novak 3D Disco presented by Trespass, a movie night presented by Snow + Rock showing the premiere of Chalet Girl and The Giro British Big Air Championships (as well as so much more!) we can’t wait to get involved!
But getting in all of the above is going to be pretty tiring, so, in order that we can relax as hard as we play, Cushe team rider Becky Hammond (pictured above) has given us some top tips on where’s best to chill out in Laax and Flims - and we thought we’d share the knowledge with you so you don’t miss out either!

I love the Noodle bar at The Rocks and Little China in Flims and both places do great takeaways. If you’re looking for a late night snack Films also has a kebab café!
If you’re on the mountain then Café No Name serves good Paninis or if you’re on more of a budget then you can eat your pack lunch downstairs.
For cool apartments in an excellent location stay in The Rocks - you can’t get closer to the slopes and you even have your own steam room in your apartment! If you’re on a budget then the Capricorn Hostel is nice and you can book bunk rooms or have a private twin room with an en-suite.
On the Mountain try the Café No Name, it’s a great location and you can watch all the park action with a drink. For Apres ski action the Crap Bar and Indy Bar are great.
I really like Flims, the supermarket called COOP is great and there’s plenty of great clothes shops. If you’re travelling with a car there are supermarkets down the valley in Llanz, which is about a 10 minute drive away.
The local buses are free around Laax and Flims and getting to Laax from Zurich airport is easy; use the local rail network, its always on time!
Boards at the ready? See you there!
