Gymnastics: 2011 Trampoline and Tumbling World Championships
When: 17-20 November 2011
Where: National Indoor Arena, Birmingham
Details: The 2011 Trampoline and Tumbling World Championships are coming to Birmingham this November, with around 650 competitors and officials from 40 countries set to embark on the National Indoor Arena.
The prestigious event will run from November 17- 20 and will include hundreds of the world’s top gymnasts.
Jane Allen, British Gymnastics CEO said: “British Gymnastics is delighted to be working with UK Sport and Birmingham City Council in delivering the 2011 World TRA Championships. This event will attract enormous attention from the Media as it is an Olympic qualification event and it will also give the public the rare chance to see the top athletes in the world who will compete in London. From our athlete’s point of view, the Championships will provide an opportunity to compete on home soil, to be supported by a home crowd and hopefully, be successful in their quest to qualify for London 2012.”
The event will see the world’s best gymnasts in these disciplines competing in one of the most celebrated competitions in the gymnastics calendar. The event was last held in this country over 40 years ago in London in 1967.
The World Championships encompasses eight events (4 male/4 female) held over a three-day period as well as the World Age Group Championships (Junior competition). It is expected that around 650 gymnasts will attend the world championships while the junior competition predicts around 1200 participants.
The event will also be the qualification competition for the Trampoline discipline for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
