It was an eight goal win for Leeds Carnegie over Team Northumbria in Round 4 of the FIAT Netball Superleague (Leeds Carnegie 45-37 Team Northumbria). The home side played the same 7 for all four quarters and the consistency paid off.
The two sides were evenly matched for the first half of the game. Both teams were playing a little below par but for the neutral it was a close run competition.
Leeds co-coach Lisa Ferneyhough was not too happy with the way that her side started the match: “The first and second quarters we were like for like. But we threw so much away ball our error rate must have been really high.”
The visitors had the lead at half-time by just one goal. Carnegie re-grouped in the half-time break and pressed on the third quarter which they won 15-9, and by winning the final period of play 13-10 were able to make it two wins from three.

Leeds Carnegie had Danielle Bloomfield back in the side, fully recovered sooner than expected from a pelvic injury and was able to play the full match.
“It was one we wanted to win” Ferneyhough admitted. “We were a bit shaky to start with but it’s just a confidence thing with the girls and I have to tell them to not think too much and just do it.
“We shone through in terms of fitness in the end and I think that showed.”
