Fresh from their Scottish Premier League victory last week, Glasgow City were on fine form as they triumphed 3-0 against top English side, Liverpool.
Despite starting strong, Liverpool ran into problems with Glasgow players Lisa Evans, Kat Linder and Jane Ross looking threatening down the left hand side. After a great run from Linder and a cross to Evans, it looked as if the home side were going to take the lead, but the Scotland U19 fired her shot just wide.
Liverpool continued to feel the pressure when ten minutes later, Emma Fernon played a fantastic through ball to Evans but her shot was saved by the keeper. Determined to put some points on the board, Evans tried for a third time, feeding the ball in to Jane Ross but her header into the bottom corner was touched round the post by the Liverpool number one.

Hard work was rewarded just before half time, however, when Evans made another outstanding run down the left and driving past the full back, rounded the goal keeper and fired home. City made it 2-0 before the break when Ross held off a number of challenges from the Liverpool defence before placing her ball under the keeper to give her side a comfortable advantage.
It didn’t take long for City to extend this lead after the restart when a cross from Ross was finished off with a header from substitute, Ruesha Litteljohn. Head Coach, Eddie Wolekci, commented after the match, “I thought the girls played very well and more than deserved the win. We created a number of chances and perhaps should have added some more. Overall, I thought the team was solid throughout. Liverpool are obviously one of the teams in the new English professional Super League, so it was a great benchmark for us today and I think we proved just how good a team we are with the result and our performance.”
