Some of the most prominent and influential figures in the world of sport have been invited to a gathering in Kettering for the unveiling of Volleyball England’s first ever Hall of Fame to honour past and present international players, referees and coaches.
The Hall of Fame is to be named after Don Anthony, who founded the Amateur Volleyball Association of Great Britain and Ireland in 1955, the precursor to the English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Associations and the British Volleyball Federation of today.
The individuals who will be inducted into the Don Anthony Hall of Fame were chosen based on international contributions to volleyball as well as performances and career achievements. The private event on Saturday November 13th will give outstanding individuals associated with all forms of volleyball in this country the chance to celebrate their achievements and share in the excitement of the sport.

Voleyball England President, Richard Callicott, commented, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the sport of Volleyball to honour those who have played their part in taking Volleyball forward. Too often we forget those who have built the sport and on whose foundations the sport is based. The Don Anthony Hall of Fame honours those people and ensures their contribution is never forgotten. As the sport moves into a new era with London 2012 on the horizon the Don Anthony Hall of Fame is a reminder to all of us of the dedication and commitment shown by the recipients being inducted.”
