Muay Thai: Julie Kitchen wins 12th world title
UK Muay Thai legend and world number one, Julie Kitchen, added a 12th world title and 22nd belt to her collection in the 50th fight of her outstanding career. Kitchen came face to face with Italian champion, Annalisa Bucci, at the Blackpool Winter Gardens in a challenging meet but she was ultimately too strong and walked away with the world title.
After suffering a cut to her forehead from Bucci’s elbow in the second round, Kitchen piled on the pressure with powerful knees and her trade mark long kicks. After five rounds, Kitchen proved to be the superior fighter by winning the bout unanimously on points.
Kitchen commented after the match, “Annalisa was a really tough opponent, getting cut by her elbow meant that I had to change tactics drastically as I had to protect my forehead constantly. This was the 50th fight of my career, I really wanted to win it – and I did!”

Robb Stanfield from Top King said of the tournament, “to put the Backstreet Brawler Top King World Title belt around Julie Kitchen’s waist at the end of the fight was one of the greatest moments of my professional career. Julie truly is a legend in the Muay Thai world.”
Kitchen is now 12 times World Champion in four different weight categories, the first and only woman to ever have achieved this.
