Ross Matheson, Group Racquets Manager at David Lloyd Leisure, says: “Medical studies have proved conclusively that children need to do more to improve their physical health, and participating in sports is one of the best ways to improve your child’s fitness.

“Organised sports programmes like Badminton All Stars give children the opportunity to be active and learn new physical skills in a safe and healthy family environment. Sport teaches children many transferable ‘life skills’ such as sportsmanship, fairness, overcoming adversity, perseverance and a desire to succeed.

“By partnering with BADMINTON England, we have developed a programme in line with the recommendations of the official national governing body of the sport, ensuring that children recieve the best coaching possible. Our programme is all about getting as many children as possible involved. Some of these children will have a natural flare for the sport and, who knows, may even go on represent Great Britain at future Olympics.”

The Badminton All Stars ‘Player Pathways’ is divided into 3 levels: red, orange and green. Each level has guidelines for the:

  • Ages of children
  • Equipment
  • Skills learnt
  • Types of competition
  • Awards that can be gained

David Lloyd Leisure boasts over 180 badminton courts in the UK alone, with a host of friendly qualified coaches, so there’s nowhere better place for your child to learn and play!
