Tennis: Laura Robson loses in Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo

September 28, 2010

Britain’s Laura Robson lost in straight sets to world number 106 Greta Arn in the first round of the Pan Pacific Open after coming through qualifying.

The 16-year-old Londoner, ranked 227th, went down 6-4 6-3 to the Hungarian to end her campaign in Tokyo. To reach the first round, Arn defeated British number one Elena Baltacha in the final round of qualifying.

Robson had beaten world number 57 Anastasija Sevastova and number 100 Simona Halep in qualifying.

Victory would have seen the British number six go through to play world number two Caroline Wozniacki in round two.
