It seems like only yesterday the crowd in Trafalgar Square waited with Union Jacks at the ready, as Dame Kelly Holmes stood with fingers steepled in prayer and we awaited the decision from Singapore when London was awarded the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
What progress has been made since then – the Olympic venues are well underway (some completed, and some even ahead of schedule), the Beijing Olympics saw Team GB make a statement of intent with their medal haul, and the sponsors have been lining up to show their support for what will surely be a magnificent, proud and historic event. And today, 27 July 2010, marks two years to go until the London Games kicks off in style.
As the official sportswear partner for London 2012, adidas is marking two years to go with the launch of its new line of sport-specific Olympic themed apparel: ‘26’.

First up is the ‘26’ cycling range. There are six pieces for both men and women comprising a jacket, top and t-shirts. The designs are inspired by the official London 2012 pictograms, whilst incorporating specific technical cycling features such as luminescent high-visibility colours, zipped collars and back pockets.
adidas hope that the apparel will inspire participants and fans to lend their support the Olympic and Paralympic movement in the run up to the London 2012 Games, a position that adidas occupies uniquely thanks to their official partner status.
Further lines are planned in the continuing run-up to the London 2012 Games, with basketball apparel launching in October 2010 and other sports adding to the range throughout 2011 and 2012.
The products in the ‘26’ cycling range feature:
The ‘26’ Cycling Jacket
The statement piece of the cycling line, this unisex jacket incorporates high-spec technical design including luminescent high-visibility colour and silver piping, ClimaProof® Rain technologies, a rear back pocket and packable hood. The CimaProof® Rain is a breathable weather protection fabric, optimising body temperature and allowing heat and sweat to evaporate. (RRP £80)
The ‘26’ Cycling Top
A slim fitting design comes styled for both men and women in two different colours (Lemon Peel/Deepest Space for men; Bloom/Deepest Purple for women). Incorporating a three-quarter zip and easily accessible back pocket, the ClimaCool® garment is sleek and stylish and features the London 2012 Cycling pictogram on the back. The ClimaCool® feature applies different ClimaSystem technology in different areas to control body temperature and keep the rider dry and comfortable. (RRP £36)
The ‘26’ Cycling T-shirt
Another piece with designs for both men and women, the t-shirt sports the bold London 2012 cyclist pictogram on the front, whilst the light and breathable ClimaLite® technology allows the cyclist to maintain performance by wicking sweat away from the skin to keep the rider cool and dry even in the hottest weather. The garment comes in Lemon Peel, Black and Deepest Space for men, and White, Bloom and Deepest Purple for women. (RRP £24)
The range will be available from today across a range of retail outlets in the UK, including adidas performance stores nationwide. Call 0870 240 4204 for stockists or visit www.adidas.com
