Arsenal Ladies Football Club have announced the signing of striker Ellen White from Leeds Carnegie.
21 year-old White made 31 appearances and scored 23 goals in all competitions during the 2009/2010 campaign with Leeds Carnegie helping the club reach fourth place in the Women’s Premier League.
White scored two goals in Leeds Carnegie’s 3-1 win over Everton in the 2010 FA Women’s Premier League Cup Final resulting in Leeds winning the trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
Before joining Leeds Carnegie in the summer of 2008, White played for Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea Ladies. Born in Aylesbury, she originally came through the ranks at the Arsenal Ladies Academy reaching the Centre of Excellence with the Gunners, leaving the Club aged 16.
The centre forward has represented England at Under-17s, Under-19s, Under-20s, Under-23s, and in March this year, Ellen made her first appearance for the England seniors against Austria.

Arsenal Ladies General Manager Vic Akers said: “Ellen has always been an absolute player and has good abilities and good goalscoring potential. She is sharp around the area and chases stuff around, chases balls down the channels and is a technically sound player. I’m really looking forward to watching her this year and the Europeans will be the first games to come up. We’ll see where we get in that and it will be nice and she’ll probably make a good pairing with Fleeting and those coming through. We are looking sharp and bright up front.”
New Arsenal Ladies player Ellen White said: “This is a pretty massive deal for me. Obviously Arsenal Ladies are the biggest women’s football team in the country and Europe and pretty much all over the world, so it is a massive move for me. I’m delighted and really excited to get started.”
Ellen White will wear the number 9 shirt.
