The England team were defeated 4-3 by Scotland in the quarter- finals of the European ladies’ team championship at La Manga Club, Spain.
The Scots won both foursomes early on. Charlie Douglass (Brocket Hall) and Holly Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) lost out to Pamela Pretswell and Laura Murray 2/1. Hayley Davis (Ferndown) and Hannah Burke (Mid-Herts) also failed to defeat the Scots, losing to Kelsey MacDonald and Louise Kenney 3/1.

The Scots then needed just two points from the singles to go through to the semi-finals.
Although England’s three Curtis Cup players won their singles matches, the team fell short of a comeback, allowing Scotland to qualify.
Team captain Julie Otto said: “It is disappointing to say the least. The Scottish team played well but we missed a number of chances, particularly round the greens.”
The team will now play for position in the top flight and play the Netherlands.
