When: July 10-12, 2010
Where: The Big Weekend, Parkers Piece, Cambridge
Details: Cycle Cambridge and Cyclodelic have joined forces to launch a two-day event of fashion, art and bicycles.
New to the Big Weekend, I Bike Cambridge brings together professional designers and Cambridge students to showcase their work in an all day interactive carnival of bicycles.
Despite women’s cycling becoming popular with with celebrities such as Lily Cole and cycling shorts becoming this season’s hottest trend, Cycle Cambridge has found that there are still a shocking number of women who are put off cycling by concerns over their appearance.
So, Cycle Cambridge has joined forces with Amy Fleuriot, founder of women’s sports fashion brand Cyclodelic, to work with students to get their take on velo chic. With designer labels such as Dashing Tweeds, Lost Values and Bobbin Bicycles thrown into the mix, ‘I Bike Cambridge’ will be proof that ladies don’t have to reach for the unflattering fluorescent when hitting the road.
I Bike Cambridge will allow ladies to pick up the latest tips in cycle style during the daily fashion shows, shop for designer performance fashion on the exclusive stalls, view an exhibition of the students work and get information on everything from the best routes to take to simple bicycle maintenance.
