Double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington continued her dominance in British freestyle events by securing gold on the first day of the British Gas Scottish National Championships.
Adlington, swimming for Nova Centurion, held off Garioch’s Hannah Miley and Loughborough’s Jo Jackson in the Women’s 200m Freestyle with a time of 1:59.45 to take gold.
Miley’s 2:00.37 was enough to secure silver and Jackson finished in bronze medal position with a time of 2:00.49.
After the race Miley said, “I’m not quite rested into it, it’s been really tough, racing hard. I’ve got my head down, I’m making sure I’m focusing on the Europeans and I’m also still working on a lot of my skills and technique.”

20-year-old Miley also claimed the 200m individual medley crown in 2:14.41, more than three seconds ahead of nearest rival Eloise Barber, getting her bid to swim as many disciplines as possible at the Commonwealth Games firmly under way.
The Championships, taking place at Glasgow’s Tollcross Park Leisure Centre, incorporate the Scottish Team Commonwealth Games trials and are the second of three opportunities swimmers have to qualify for the Scottish National Team.
