Katie’s Uphill Battle - Week 7 - White Week

Heading off for a week in the alps. My fingers are crossed for some snow and fun times with the side effect of increasing muscle endurance and strength in my legs… winner.

Goodbye rainy London… Bonjour rainy Val D’Isere?

Saturday 20th March
Merde!…

Delighted to be leaving London in the rain and less delighted to be arriving in Val D’Isere in the drizzle – its 1850 metres above sea level… it is NOT meant to rain.

Luckily the rain was brief and all 29(!) of us had an amazing week.

We survived with no broken bones and only 1 concussion which is pretty impressive.

In celebration of our friend Kedj’s birthday we had an 80’s dress-up day – here you can see Chris looking pretty rinsing in her afro and my two cycle buddies who I commute with, Soph and Emma looking very fetching in their matching luminous pink lycra. It turned a few heads as you can imagine…

An executive decision

Back from holiday I’ve sadly made the executive decision not to ride out tomorrow with the fullcity crew tomorrow as planned.

My legs are pretty spent (and bruised and battered) after my week in the snow and I am meant to be learning the art of rest and recovery days. I am gutted as I was meant to be testing our my new gearset but I know it’s the right decision. Boo, wish I had superhuman strength and could just keep on going forever…

Sunday 28th March
Running late…

Good job I decided not to meet the boys yesterday as I accidentally slept in until midday and only discovered once I was an hour late for lunch at my friends house that the clocks had actually gone forward…
