Swimming: Britain’s elite impress on day two of champs

Britain’s elite swimmers produced some exceptional performances on day two of the British Gas Swimming Championships 2010.

The championships in Sheffield saw Amy Smith set a new personal best time on her way to winning the women’s 50m Fly final. She managed to beat World Championship swimmer Ellen Gandy on her way to victory.

The Loughborough University swimmer looked strong throughout the race as she moved into an early lead. Smith never looked back as she won the race with a time of 26.88 seconds. Gandy (Beckenham) took silver in 27.20 seconds, while bronze went to Louise Pate (Edinburgh Uni) in 27.42 seconds.
