TeamBath extended their winning tally to two wins from two on Monday night when they successfully beat Hertfordshire Mavericks 43-40 in the Co-operative Netball Superleague.
The match was the first outing Bath have had in over a month thanks to the bad weather restricting their league commitments.
The game was a repeat of the last season’s final game of the league and sets Bath up nicely for their coming game against tricky opponents Celtic Dragons on the 15th of January.
Getting of to an inspired start, they had the edge in both the first two quarters, leaving the teams breaking for half time with a 16-20 score line.
Mavericks did manage to reduce the deficit though, and won the third quarter 12-10 to make it 28-30.
The final quarter saw Mavericks show a stronger display coming back from a seven goal lead by scoring five times in a row.
After the final whistle, Bath head coach Jess Garland said, “We won three of the four quarters.
“We started the game quickly because we hadn’t played for a while and the players were keen to step-up.
“We learned some lessons, and if you can do that while winning against a quality team, it’s a good place to be.”
Bath’s next game is against Celtic Dragons, which if they win will boost their confidence for League leaders Surrey Storm who they play at the end of the month.
“I’m not taking anything for granted against Celtic, we never seem to play particularly well against them,” Garland added.
“It’s a really important game for us and having two games in such quick succession will help give us a really good build-up for Surrey.”
