The UK’s first Women and Sport Conference

October 12, 2024

The Women and Sport Conference is the first major event focussing on the commerical aspects of women’s sport - sponsorship, marketing, media and funding. A mix of industry leaders and top athletes will discuss the current state of women’s sport and look forward into the golden decade of events set to be held in the UK.

When? 27th November 2009

Where? The CBI Conference Centre, Centre Point Tower, Lower Oxford Street, London.

What? The past twelve months have created some remarkable headlines for Women and Sport; the England cricket team winning the World Cup, Jessica Ennis’ remarkable gold medal at the World Championships, England’s run to the final of the UEFA European Championships, the Caster Semanaya controversy, super-Mum Kim Clijsters, continued funding debates and much more.

Results on the track, pitch, court, pool or field have given triumphant female athletes a huge increase in media attention. New technology offers a higher profile for previously hidden sports and athletes. Whilst the development of sponsorship and funding have given more athletes greater routes to success.

However, there is still plenty of work to be done or this growing momentum will be lost. With major sporting events set to dominate the agenda in the coming decade there has never been a greater opportunity for women’s sport to achieve its potential.

This conference is the first serious commercial look at this growing world and sport in the UK and all it’s components; the sponsorship, marketing, media and funding. Each of these topics will be discussed by the leading voices in the area in a lively, insightful and important event:

• Sue Tibballs, Chief Executive, The WSFF
