The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour have launched a global ‘Heroes Among Us’ campaign to recognise individuals who have had a positive impact on women in their community.
The ‘Heroes Among Us’ campaign asks fans from across the world to nominate parents, teachers, coaches and community leaders who have inspired young women to pursue their dreams.

The winner will receive a fantastic prize package for two to attend the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha, Qatar at the end of October.
The prize includes tickets to the final, behind-the-scenes access at the tournament, round trip airline tickets, accommodation, transportation plus tickets to the end of year party.
“All of the players on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour had someone who encouraged us to dream big and follow our dreams,” said Venus Williams. “These local heroes bring guidance and leadership to their communities and we’re looking to give them the recognition they deserve.”

All submissions are due by 18 September and a panel of judges will announce the five finalists on 28 September. Fans can then cast their vote for the ‘Heroes Amoung Us’ recipient and the winner will be announced in mid October.

The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour have worked with UNESCO since 2006 to raise awareness of gender equality issues and promote leadership opportunities for women in all spheres of society.
