The all-girl Helly Hansen UK team have announced their participation in the 2009 PowerBar Three Peaks Yacht Race in June.
The brave ladies to take on the renowned adventure challenge are; Helen Acton (Skipper), Adele Carter (first mate), Kirtsy Maguire (sailor) and Nicola Macleod and Maria Leijerstam (adventure racers).
The thrilling race will start with 25 teams at Barmouth, Wales and end in Fort William Scotland. Each team will consist of three sailors and two runners.
It begins with a 389 nautical mile coastal sail, followed by 18 miles of cycling and 72 miles of running. All team members will be challenged to the maximum, the runners will face a 14,000ft ascent to reach the peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon; meanwhile the sailors will have to navigate through the treacherous Scottish Coastline.
