Editors letter - December
What a year 2008 has been, both for British sport and for us at Sportsister. We launched this magazine in April after eighteen months of
planning and preparation and a further three years before that as an
idea. Spurred on by your enthusiasm and support we have introduced new features, a mini printed magazine and now we are pleased to be joined by Debbie Wylde, who joins our small team as Sales Manager.
Debbie’s background in travel publishing will bring strategies to make
Sportsister a viable business and allow us to get on with what we do
best; great articles, exciting interviews and inspirational stories.
December is a time for looking back at the events and achievements of
the year and in 2008 we are spoiled for choice.
My favourite moment of the Olympic Games was Nicole Cooke’s Gold medal -not only was it Britain’s first Gold, but it was so incredibly well deserved. Having seen her miss out in Athens despite being one of the
best in her field, it was a joy to see her take the title. I will remember that moment for years.
My sportswoman of the year is harder to choose, but if I had to single
one out it would be Christine Ohoruogu, for her incredible last 100m
that saw her come from almost nowhere in the 400m final to take the
Gold. Rebecca Romero comes a close second though, and I am looking
forward to seeing what further successes they can achieve!
As always, we welcome feedback from you, so please write and tell us
what you think and how we can improve.
Danielle Sellwood, Sportsister
