Doncaster Rovers Belles midfielder Rachel Williams will be delighted with her start to the season after winning the October FA Tesco Women’s Premier League Player of the Month Award and a place in the U20 England squad for the forthcoming Women’s World Cup in Chile.
Williams joined the Belles from Leicester City Women in the summer and has been instrumental in their impressive start to the season. Her attacking flare has helped her side remain unbeaten during October, recording two wins and a draw from their three league fixtures.
The midfielder also chipped in with a crucial goal in the Belles victory over Nottingham Forest Ladies in The FA Tesco Women’s Premier league Cup, earning her team a place in the semi-finals.
The Award is decided by nominations from clubs in The FA Tesco Women’s Premier League and England coaching staff.
Peter Hough, Chairman of the FA Tesco Women’s Premier League, said “Rachel’s outstanding form has been recognised by her inclusion in the U20 World Cup squad and we wish Rachel and her team mates the best of luck for the tournament.
“Rachel Williams has enjoyed an excellent start to life at Doncaster Rovers Belles. She is a gifted midfielder with a real eye for goal, having already been on the score sheet seven times so far this season.”
