Sportsister recommends Eve Activewear the online retailer of women’s performance sportswear for sizes 14-22.
Eve Activewear was launched in August 2007 by Steph Mireylees because she was struggling to find comfortable kit for running, walking or cycling and didn’t want to resort to a non-performance oversized t-shirt.
After frustrating shopping trips that left her with very little choice, she started to look worldwide and discovered brands that were unavailable in the UK, so she decided to set up Eve Activewear to enable other women to have the choice too.
Eve stocks Ronhill, Casall, ABA, SportHill and Terry Cycling and is always on the look out for new brands. They also get a lot of requests through the site and by email asking if they can help to find new kit or get hold of sizes above a 22. And so far they have done quite well, and in fact through one of these requests they discovered the SportHill range.
Good service and solid information are key to the site and the size guide is a great resource for finding out how each brand fits. According to Steph, Ronhill’s kit goes up to a size 18 and the fabrics are very high quality, plus their kit has plenty of additional features such as hidden pockets, reflective strips etc. SportHill’s kit has the same high quality fabric and finish, but its size range goes from 1X-3X which is approximately a UK 18-22.
The ABA (A Big Attitude) kit is a more basic lycra and cotton mix, but it has a very flattering cut and a lower price point. The US brands (ABA, SportHill and Terry Cycling) tend to be larger around the waist and hips than the European brands.
Bestseller is the ABA baseball shirt which has either red or green sleeves and a very competitive price point of £19, an item that Steph herself wears regularly to the Gym.
Sportsister favorites include the Casall Bow tank available in Niagara Blue or Hot Pink and priced at £30.60 (pictured below centre); and the flattering Terry Wrapper Plus £34.00, a lightweight skirt (pictured below right) that can be layered over shorts - sure to be a hit with women who want to cover-up a bit more without the need for hefty jog pants.
As the site grows Steph is keen to include more information on events as well as news and links of interest and currently the site is undergoing a re-vamp for this very purpose. There will be a strong emphasis on helping women who are just starting out or want to spend time doing outdoor activities with friends or family (e.g. sponsored walks, charity cycle rides etc).
