Seven of the UK’s most talented young female middle distance athletes benefited from the fantastic opportunity of competing in an 800m exhibition race at the recent Aviva London Grand Prix. The annual IAAF Super Grand Prix is UK Athletics most prestigious televised meeting.
The athletes are all part of double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes’ ‘On Camp with Kelly’ mentoring initiative, supported by Aviva. It’s hoped that the experience gained from competing at events such as this, alongside the world’s most elite athletes, will help the athletes along the way to becoming the UK’s Olympic champions of the future.
We catch up with athletes Hannah England, Oxford City AC, Rowena Cole, Coventry Godiva Harriers, Tara Bird, Woodford Green and Laura Finucane, Pendle AC who join Dame Kelly Holmes to discuss competing at such a celebrated event.
