Football: The FA Tesco Women’s Community Shield 2008
When: August 7, 2008. 7.45pm kick off
Where: Moss Rose stadium, Macclesfield Town
Details: Some of the biggest stars in Women’s football will be on display when Macclesfield Town host The FA Tesco Women’s Community Shield season curtain raiser between Arsenal Ladies and Everton on August 7. Kick off is 7.45pm.
England Women internationals such as Faye White, Fara Williams, Jill Scott and Kelly Smith, who scored four goals at last year’s World Cup, will all feature at Moss Rose in front of the live Setanta Sports cameras.
Arsenal Ladies are one of the most decorated clubs in Women’s football with ten Premier League titles, nine FA Cup Final victories and a UEFA Cup win to their name.
But Everton are slowly narrowing the gap and beat the Gunners 1-0 in last season’s Premier League Cup Final.
Last year’s FA Women’s Community Shield was put on ice due to the World Cup in China but the two sides met in 2006 at Crewe’s Gresty Road with Arsenal securing a 3-0 triumph.
Tickets for the game on August 7 are just £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and concessions. Groups of 15 people or more can take advantage of an FA discount with tickets at £3 for adults and £2 for children and concessions.
