Great Britain’s Shanaze Reade won gold at the BMX World Championships in Taiwan on Saturday.
The 19 year old has now secured her spot for Beijing and will enter the games as favourite for the gold medal. She was defending her world championship title, after winning last year in her first season as a senior.
Reade recently made a switch from BMX to track cycling, and in her second ever competitive race on the track, took gold at the World Track Cycling Championships in Manchester in the team sprint event alongside Victoria Pendelton.
But it will be back to concentrating on the BMX event for Reade in the lead up to Beijing. With five successive BMX world crowns at both junior and senior level under her belt, she is definitely one to watch this summer.
