The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has awarded the hosting rights of the 2010 Women’s Champions Trophy to England Hockey.
The Women’s Champions Trophy is an annual event for six of the top women’s teams in the world. As hosts, England automatically qualifies for the tournament, which will run from the 10th to 18th July 2010.
Highfields Hockey Centre in Nottingham has been chosen as the event venue. Highfields is an established excellent hockey club base and the location of one of the new England Hockey National Performance Centres.
Philip Kimberley, Executive Chairman of England Hockey, commented “I am delighted that England Hockey has been awarded the Women’s Champions Trophy by our world governing body (FIH) which is in recognition of our successful hosting of the EuroHockey Nations Championships in 2007 on behalf of the European Governing Body (EHF).”
